I want to try my hand at repaints

I have paint shop pro.

I wanted to create repaints for the default MS aircraft.

When I try to open up the texture bmp's from the texture.1 directory of the default MS aircraft the bmp seems to be all garbled up.

how can I create repaints of the default MS aircraft?

You have to convert the bitmap from a .DXT to a .BMP try a converter likr DXT1 bitmap manipulator. save the file as a 32 bit file.
Hope this helps.

downlaod a program called DXTBmp and find a simple tutorial. it's easy to use - just send to editor, save and import back in program.
