I am currently on my way to rome in a boeing 737 and flying over the alps but atc is telling me to descend to 13000ft. Whats going on?

It's been obvious for a few days now that you and two others are doing that.
It's disgusting, to admit that you are spamming the Forum just to get your post numbers up.
That's the reason that I would like to see the post numbers and ranks be abolished.

I agree,I think flyaway only added ranks to get people too keep posting, but now the forums are so big and have so many members that it's useless.it's nice too have a party for posting here and there, but ranks are useless.

I think ranks are pretty cool but spam posters should have there number of posts reduced to zero each time. Then they will learn.

To answer your original question, I believe this to be pretty standard as Rome isn't far away from the Alps.

The most sensible suggestion anyone has made in a very long time.

There would be the added bonus of being able to conduct Polls which actually reflect at least an approximate consensus.

As it is at the moment, Polls that could be helpful to many of us turn out to be absolutely useless because those members who feel they cannot score another post, simply won't cast their vote.

To recap, Radarman's idea that
..That's the reason that I would like to see the post numbers and ranks be abolished.
has my full support.
We could retain the date that a member joined, if that seems important, but at least newcomers could decide for themselves which members posts are relevant and which ones should be ignored. It certainly would make for a smoother operation all around and we could actually get around to do what we're here to do in the first place - discuss and share thoughts of our beautyful hobby.
