Argh, second time trying to post this.

Ok, I've been having problems with FS lately as in planes are slowing my system down to 6-10fps, has nothing to do with scenery since I can turn everything down to nothing and it doesn't help at all, I only experience this in the cockpit. It really detracts from the flying experience.

I'd like to think I have a nice system setup and it seems people with lesser setups don't seem to have the problems I have.

Here is my setup.

Intel Pentium 4 3.4ghz Dual Core
2gb of Ram
Nvidia 6800 256mb PCI-Express
HARD DRIVE, 160GB, Serial ATA, 7.2K, 8MB, SEAGATE-ALPINE

Not sure what else I should list, if you have any other questions about it please ask so i can figure it out.

I bought the computer back in December of 2004 so I'm guessing that perhaps the Graphics card might be outdated so I've been thinking about upgrading to a decent 512mb card.

So to the Guru's out there do you think that there is a chink in my System that could be causing the lack of decent performance or so you perhaps think its something else within the system.

If you have any other questions please ask because I'm an idiot when it comes to Hardware.

Defrag the hard drive and run scandisk

Thats a good set up for fs9 so you should be getting smooth play

Check to see whats going on in the back ground, hit Ctrl,Alt and Delete.Look for anything that you dont know and Google it to see what it is

GFX memory,"more is good" is not realy true unless you are running a big screen at a high resolution

Last time I tried defraging it said I didn't have enough free space on my hard drive...I'll try it again tonight.

Clear out some space, delete progs you no longer use/need.Back-up to cd

A better defrag tool than the MS one is Arrow

O&O Defrag 2000 Freeware Edition

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4545

But you are taking up more H/D space by d/loading Rolling Eyes

If you must have all that you have on your H/D,think about adding another drive

Once you clear out the "chaff" from your H/D and defraged, you should see an improvement

This is quite an amazing cleaner, read it over and use it.

http://www.ccleaner.com/

You can also go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup and dump a few gigabits of back "restore points".

I would also delete the video drivers your using and get later ones.

TTT said that's still a very good card.
