Since other methods apparently won't be used, per haps this will.

The software that runs these forums has the ability, either natively or via a free addon, to automatically filter specific wors. If used, and all the terms used by spammers, including the medications porn phrases, etc., that spammers use and change them to "***", it would make posting spam useless, since the content and the links containing those words would be garbled and meaningless. Additonally the domain suffixes .biz and .info might also be filtered.

If you make it impossible for anyone to get to the sites these spam post, you eliminate the motive these turds have for posting spam.

Of course, this assumes the owner of this site is actually interested in keeping spam off this site. At this point, I don't believe he does. Prove me wrong.

This is one of the two methods that have been discussed.
If implemented it takes time to gather the "terms" "words" and then entering them.
To sit and do a few a day isn't worth while.

What form do you need the list of words in? I have a small comma-delimited list, but if you PM me with the spam as it occurs, I can add the necessary to the list and get it to you.

In the alternative, I can get lists from various sites that deal with spam email.

Don't know. I've used this type of forum long ago, at this time I'm more familiar with an Invision forum.
I think the system is the same, enter the word and choose the "X" or "*" for the filter to substitute.
It's up to Flyaway, when he decides what we are going to do we can supply the "words" by saving the posts to the mod forum and then TTT and I can slowly build up a list on a blank post in that forum.
It's been thought out, the time for him to spare and the decision is the thing.
He's been gone for a while, others take vacations, TTT and I sit the joint.

I don't know much about softwares and how they work, however the concept seems plausible. If you flyaway does decide to take action, I'll be willing to push for this method, as it allows guest posting, and maintains the site's dignity. Good luck in getting it off the ground though Wink
Have you ever had that feeling, where everything just seems right, and you have no cares in the world..As if heaven smiled down upon you, and told you everything was going to be ok?

Yea, neither have I

Another idea that may be worth thinking about is restricting the ability to post links to registered members.
It should be pretty simple to put together some regex to strip out any links or anything ending with .com .net etc if the poster isnt registered.

I am not familiar with this board, I know myPHPnuke inside out though and it would be reasonably simple with that so I assume it would be pretty much the same with PHP Nuke.

To be honest at $5 to become a member Flyaway should have done something by now! Over $400,000 is what Flyaway has received from regristrations! With the mods as well, helping in the forums for free, Flyaway should have done something, instead of the mods having to sort it out when this forum is supposed to be run by Flyaway.
