Reinstalling FS is not going to solve the problems. The problem that I don't know if someone lacking the knowledge to know that the are periods in an IP address, will be able to give me enough information about their firewall or broadband router if they have one, to provide any assistance.

Stop feeling insulted. I'd say the same thing about someone who wanted to tune up an auto engine if he'd said he didn't know where to check the oil. I have a long history of believing that people who use something should have a clue as to how it works. The longer I live, the more I realize that fewer and fewer people share that belief,

I am assuming (bad me) that you have a broadband router. In its administration page, you will find something called port forwarding. You have to set it so that whatever port FS uses for multiplayer is sent to the "internal or local" IP address of the computer FS is running on. Usually that IP address is 192.168.blah.blah.

I will assume (again, bad me) that you can determine your computer's local IP address.
