Hey Guy!

Today I baught FSX Deluxe. I was very happy. But when I arrived at home and insert the disc and opened it there was just a readme.txt.
I opened it and in there stands:
This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

Please help me!!!! What can I do to solve this problem?

This is what it is.

Do you have Nero software on your machine.

Yes I have! I've got Nero 7 Premium on my Computer! What can I do? I'm not really a specialist on this topic. Do I have to delete it? What is with the other burning programs?

Disable it or better delete it all!
Do it in the control panel "add or remove programs".
Go to start/search and be sure all is gone.
Reboot and it should load.
Nero screwed me up also but with different messages.
I don't know where you live but I found Roxio for $6.99 and will buy it today.

do you think Alcohol 120%, Deamon Tools or Clone CD will be a problem? Or shall I delete them all?

One at a time. Do Nero first.
If you get a different error message let me know.
I don't know about the others.

OK.

I am running an opty 165 @ 2600mhz, 2gb ram, gf7900gt, winxp, plenty hdd space

I put the disk in the drive and it doesn't get read at all - drive flashes but nothing comes up. In explorer it doesn't see it either.

Someone on a forum said to remove Nero which I did, along with any other writing software.

Also cleaned the reg and updated the firmware of my drive.

Other game software dvd's (Like Oblivion) are read and work fine.

I took this disk to my laptop computer at work and the dvd drive there read it fine (Didn't try install cus the laptop couldn't run it anyway)

I'm using an Aopen dual layer 16x dvd r/w, so reasonably modern.

Any ideas?

Click on the DVD drive in My Computer. that'll open the FSX DVD.
Select install and see if that works.
If you get an error message please tell us exactly what it says.

By the way, nice system.

You do have SP2 and all the latest updates, they came out with more this past Tuesday.

Sorry, just to say that the error message (After a loooong time of looking) was to insert a disk in the drive.

I think I'm going to go and pick up a new reader tomorrow.

OK, bought a new reader today, and it read and installed the game.

Irritating that I needed to do that, but I suppose at least it's installed now!

Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, that is on the MS web site. It is pure crap. A 16X works perfectly fine. Mine installed all the files in less than a half hour.

hey guys

I installed FSX deluxe a few days ago, and when I do free flights, the game is constantly glitching. When I do missions, it is less frantic, sometimes even completely smooth. I am running an intel dual core processor with 2 nvidia gforce 7900GTX's with SLI and 2 mgs of RAM. I updated my driver's and everything else. Even if i decrease the settings on the game it still glitches. My defaults setting set everything on ultra high. If someone could please help me that would be great.

Thanks

Set everything on medium or lower, save it, fly and try up or down from there depending on how it's running.

You have to "play" with the settings until you get one that you can live with.
Don't forget, flying over Alaska will give you higher FPS than flying over a graphic intensive area like a city or an airport.

I even tried setting everything on medium, and it still ends up being choppy. But what i don't understand is how its glitching even when im running the game on 2 7900GTX graphics cards with 512mb each? it sounds a bit odd to have to play the game on such low settings with 2 powerful cards. but like i said before, when i play missions, the game is smoother, even in busier locations.

actually i take that last part i said about when its on medium its still choppy, when it gets to medium high/high, it then becomes a problem. Butstill strange why its doing that with the video cards that i use.

Back off on the graphic hungry slides. Clouds, shadows. AI, Traffic autogen and see how you do.

It's much smoother when everything is set to medium high (before i had set all the traffic to 60%). But like u said, when fdlying at night, theres an airport to my left, if i turn my camera angle to look at the airport, it becomes choppy. Just at a curiosity, what settings are you running your game at Radarman?

My computer is past saving.
I'm getting a new one very soon.
Right now I try to keep my flying confined to Alaska (winter) where I don't use scenery just high on mesh and some (not much) autogen.
I have all my AI and traffic off.

I see, so one more question, when you click on reset defaults, that brings the game to settings at which it think it will operate the best with maximum performance, right? So why would it put it on ultra high if I can't handle it, even with 2 512 video cards? Does it really take more power than that to run it on ultra high with no choppiness?

Default is for what they consider a "normal" machine, one that's built for gaming and not more than 2 years old (my guess).

When they (MS) and others build a new game they make it beyond the capabilities of today's computers, they are built for tomorrows machines.
This way we with a new machine can run it at an acceptable rate and it looks a runs fine.
In a year or so the new machines are eye dropping beautiful.
By the time the new version comes out you can run the old at full ahead on a new machine, but it won't run that next version like that.
A vicious cycle...but we love it!
