I bet you're happy you got your Spit working in fsx. I wonder how you got around the gauges issue
Nice pics |

Wing-man, I've never seen that spitfire before, who makes it? Also, your screenshots are awesome, do you have any new textures for the ground, because I have my texture maps set high, but they just don't look as good as yours. |

Hi jcagle , the Spit is from Realair Simulations, one of my best buy's...
http://www.realairsimulations.com/
My ground textures in FSX are just normal ground default, except these....
http://flyawaysimulation.com/forum/topic/22334/so-you-want-fsx-this-is-fsx/ which are a free demo add-on from here..........
As you'll no doubt already know, it takes more than ground textures to make a good screenshot. It's about getting your settings right that your machine can handle, and obviously your graphics card play's a big part.
Hope the above helps, also, check out this post...........

Wingman,
with your system specifications, what happens(frame rate an general appearance) when you turn all available options and features to the maximum settings? |

Many thanks Wing-man, that was very helpful. With your comments regarding the spit, I have another question that I hope doesn't require too long of an answer. I have been trying to move several airplanes over from FS9 to FSX and occassionally I will run into huge problems with VC's and gauges. I have looked around and the only information I have been able to aquire is that conversions are tricky and require a fair amount of work. Do you have any more insight than this, I don't want a step by step list, but a general outline would be hugely appreciated. Also, I don't mean to tout my horn, but I am a Mechanical engineer with two years of formal training in computer engineer, so I have a moderate competance in programming and program manipulation. |

FSX as with FS9, I never have the sliders maxed out, personally, I dont see much an improvement to what I already have them set at. I dont have FSX installed at the moment, so I can't say exactly what settings the sliders were at, I think they were about two thirds accross to the right. I've removed FSX because it conflicts with FS9, not in a performance issue, but since installing FSX, my machine refuses to auto/self install any FS9 add-on's, any auto installer fails to recognise FS9 or any FS9 folders, so everything has to be manually installed (can be a pain), but after removing FSX, my FS9 is back to normal, I sim with FS9 alot more than FSX.
I'll probably get attached to FSX more, once they start releasing payware for it.
Getting back to performance, FSX as with FS9, I just have the fps slider locked at 30, and that's what I get. Fps slider maxed out in FS9, I get 130-140 + fps, which is a waste as we know. I was getting 30 fps with FSX, the next time I load and run it, I'll max out all the sliders and post the fps/performance. |

I know exactly what you mean, it aint all about just copying files accross, I'm still working on the Level D panel, or I was up untill I uninstalled FSX.
I dont want to sound to be fobbing you off jcagle
but I've swapped trials and errors back and forth through pm's on another site. So to save me posting what I hope will help you, I'll simply link you to what you should find useful from various posts. |

Hey, I don't mind a long read, it's really nice just to know where the long read is found, so thank you very much. I like this forum , I tried the exact topic (working FS9 add-ons or working with slight editing add ons) on another site, and it was immediately shot down by 6 members saying it was unnecessary because most add ons worked just fine. |
