Multi-player -- Flight Simulator 2004

I've been playing around with Flight Simulator for awhile, do a lot of city hopping, and wantedto check Multi-player out the other day. Unfortunetely, I did not see anyone on the multi-player list. How come? Is this feature not popular? It said I could host a session, or search. Nothing happened. Can anyone guide me that is unfamiliar? Thanks.
