CFS3 Crashes with no error upon startup

installed the game, fired it up, and got to the main screen. I'm about to check the options menu when suddenly the game crashes. I get sent straight to the desktop, no error message, no lagging, everything else runs fine.

My system specs

AMD turion 64 x2 @ 1.66 GHz
Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 256 mb integrated
~ 1 Gb RAM
Direct x 9.0
Display set to 1200 x 800 32 bit

Get the latest DirectX, be sure that you have all the Windows updates.
Defrag.
Clean out the old drivers and load newer drivers for the card but not the latest, the card is old so keep older drivers.

I take it your running XP.
