Trigger Button

Ok. This is going to sound really stupid, but I purchased this Wings of Power II WWII Fighters SE and I can't figure out how to fire the gun. My trigger button is the brakes. I know I can change it, but trying to find out which key it is is impossible. Does anyone know how to figure out the weapons buttons?

The guns and the ordnance are just cosmetic. No fighting in FS please 😀

For combat, you'll have to get a Combat sim Idea

Really now. It's just an addon plane from Wings of Power II WW II Fighters. It's for FSX. I'm not going to shoot anything I just want to be able to hear this thing.

I'm quite familiar with the WOP WWII fighters. I've got them in fs9. Wouldn't have responded otherwise.

Are you saying that FSX Locks this out, or something like that. It's cool if it does, I can get another program..

What I'm saying is that there are basically two types of flightsims.

Sims such as FSX and fs9 etc. and Combat flightsims. WOP are add-on developers that recreate classic aircraft in every aspect, including virtual ordnance. The weapons however cannot be used as FS as a platform doesn't support firing of weapons and combat by default.

Thanks bro. They are pretty amazing, especially the sound. How does pacific Fighter Rank as far as combat sims..

Sorry, don't have that one yet but am still tempted. What makes Pacific Fighters attractive to me is the carrier ops and I prefer the Pacific theater to the European in Combat sims.
I've read good things about it, but there seem to be issues with certain updates and installs.

If you wanna get your feet wet without breaking the bank, pick up a copy of MS CFS2 for a few dollars.

Needless to say, being a few years old by now, you can't expect the stunning graphics that we have become accustomed to by now. But you'll get a hell of a ride, carrier ops as well, excellent training missions and there are tons and tons of add-ons available especially at simvation and many other libraries.

You'd be surprised how big the MS CFS2 community still is - trust me, it's a few dollars well spent.

Whatever you do, stay away from MS CFS3 - a complete dud - I've got that one too, bought it when it was released, kept it for a few weeks on my machine, uninstalled it and haven't looked at it since.

You are going to laugh at this one. I bought that the other day and it sucks. I also uninstalled it in a mater of 24 hours. Too funny. I kept it, but now it's headed for the garbage...

That is funny. You should have asked. 😀

From what I understand one of the blunders of CFS3 was a totally different engine which somehow restricted freeware developers drastically.

Again, CFS3 a total anti-climax after the experience of CFS2 is about the best way to describe it.

Let me in on the bad and the good of CFS3 was just thinking about buying it

you know, it's very interesting to hear you say that. a few weeks ago, i went to a shop and bought cfs3, and when i got it home it was missing a disc. i took it back, and for my trouble, they gave me cfs2 for free!!!
i was a little annoyed because i automatically figured the later program would be better. i don't use it much, i'm more of a sunday driver in a plane. besides, my skills are such that by the time i actually shoot one down, the war is over, and everyone else has already gone home.

This is funny and you don't know how lucky you are!!

BTW, there are Landing on Carriers Training missions included in CFS2. Best thing ever. When I started, I made 3 attempts every day religiously. It took me a few days but I finally got the hang of it.
I keep harping on about it, but I reckon it's the best drill for landing any aircraft under any conditions anywhere. (In flightsim of course 😳 ).

You can also do silly things like turning around when you've missed a trap and start shooting at the carrier in disgust and guess what? The carrier crew will pepper you with flak in return and of course we can't let that happen, so we keep turning back doing strafing attacks until the carrier finally goes up in flames and starts descending to its watery grave. And all this with just the guns of a Wildcat ROFL

Great fun -- don't get me started...

If it helps at all, I've got Pacific Fighters here. It's based on the IL-2 engine, and isn't terrible as a combat sim. There's a few quirks, like friendly forces are red (a'la IL-2), and there's an autopilot option that will land you on the carrier if you need it. It's got multiple career paths - fighter and bomber, US Navy, US Marine, USAAF, Japan, and I believe Royal Navy. The thing that struck me as odd was that there were massive time jumps in campaign mode. I went from flying a P-40 at Pearl Harbor, to a P-40 around Midway (I think... it's been a while), to a P-51D escorting B-29's all the way to Tokyo.

It's one of those games that looked pretty neat at first, but failed to really hold my interest.

Thanks for your comments Kohnen. Good to hear an objective sounding assessment.

Radarman mentioned something about a Demo version in another post a while ago -- have yet to find it.

They put out a demo for the first edition just to suck in potential buyers, after that they don't bother and just sell to their regulars and word of mouth.
I bought IL2 Forgotten Battles because of the first demo.
