Hey everyone.. I am trying to add some AI traffic to my FSX for use with my virtual airline (EastJet Virtual Airways).

Does anyone know if there are any easy-to-use traffic editing programs out there for use with FSX and if so, where I can find it?

I'm looking for something much like TrafficTools for FS9 or something of that sort.. only it would have to be for FSX.

Thanks in advance everyone! Cool

FSX SDK has "Traffic tool box" that might do the job. The SDK in included with the deluxe version. I've installed the SDK and it's patch. started the game and started Traffic tool box from the RUN command line. Windows Task Manager says;
AI traffic editor I Fight simulator X Add-ons/... Running
But I don't see any new scrol down tabs in the game, I don't know what I'm doing of course.
Been hoping to talk to someone who does.

Why not ease the pain by taking the easy route oldsamer?

Ignore the Microsoft maze and peruse this page, follow the instructions and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about: http://www.world-of-ai.com/

They have a great support forum and their packages are now compatible with FSX.

To have all these lovely looking planes buzzing around you, you don't even have to bother with craeting flight plans; which is not to say that you can't do that later if you're so inclined.

I'll think about it, waitin to see if Sp1 has any silver bullets. Right now I've avoided installing MS .net framework in this remdition of winXp. Can't remember why, must have been a reason.

Looks like "World of AI" is orientated to commerial carriers and hubs. I stay at small munies and city ports. I Find my frame rate is higher out here. This month I'm flying out of Fredricksburg TX (T82) cause of the free coffee and cookies in the pilots lounge. What I'd like to do is have some tail draggers join me.

Hi Pilotguy44,
Warning - stay away from FSX_GA_TRAFFIC. It can be found on this site under Flightsim Downloads > FSX utilities. Take a look at "I screwed up" in this forum. All I wanted to do was add a few of my downloaded aircraft to my sim experience and look what happened to me. Don't know if it's what you want, but I'd follow Tailhooks' advice.
Good luck...Art Mad

I am currently running with world-of-ai, projectai, and ultimateGA on my system and I get a hefty amount of traffic. UltimateGA requires a manual install, and projectai needs a bit of manipulation to install for FSX, but it is definitely workable. World-of-ai is the best because their installer is fully FSX compatible, and they have a flightplan convertor that changes FS9 plans to FSX, accounting for changed airport codes and the change in the first day of the week from Sunday to Monday. I use that convertor for all of my packages.

That said, if you are not detail oriented and are not comfortable manually installing some packages, then I would stay away. I'm sure after SP1 is released, we'll start seeing the all-in-one payware AI packages released as FSX compatible.

Hi Irishman,
Who were you talking to? Why don't you register? That way we have a conversation going.

I was talking to the original poster (and anyone else who cares). Since he was asking about traffic add-ons, I thought I'd describe a bit about what I was using.

I would register, but I am lurking (for now) until I can determine if I want to pay $5/month.

Oops, sorry - I forgot about the five bucks/month. Please forgive me if I sounded rude. I didn't mean to.

That's about how my logic works as well, especially after reading topics such as these: http://flyawaysimulation.com/postt28057.html

Anyway, it would be a nice gesture if you assumed a username when you're posting. Threads tend to turn into useless to and fro each time more than one anonymous Guest gets involved.

Good idea Tailhook. I guess that's what I was trying to say in my previous post.

Sorry, I didn't mean for that last post to be anonymous. I made an error when posting and when I went back, it cleared the "username" field.

You're forgiven. Hey, I'm looking for something like Oldsamer wants. Just small planes at small airports. Anyone - anyone...

No harm done Irishman, at least you're trying and you understand the dilemma. Thumbs Up!

Hi Art,
You could have a look at this site, they specialise in GA AI traffic: http://www.ultimatega.com/

If you go to their 'Models' page http://www.ultimatega.com/models.html you'll find a number of smaller props and even a Taildragger (Cessna 120/140 Tail Dragger by Dee Waldron).

Wasn't aware of the Taildragger until just now - maybe 'oldsamer' would like to have a look too?

Tailhook
I looked in on ultimatega. They seem to specialize in creating addon AI aircraft, not so much in mannipulating the AI flight plan. That's something I'll be interested in later on. In their forums ultimatega are talking about FSX Sp1 fixes to many of their autocad problems. Ultimatega still don't seem to have an installer for FSX, only FS9.

Yesterday I invented a new freeflight game. Since the AIs in my game don't congregate at the same fields I do, I have begun hunting them. An intercept occurs when I get close enough to "paint" their skin. At my current home field (T82) an AI flies in and performs 2 touch-and-go's just after lunch time and at dawn 2 unknowns fly by heading north. I'm needing something faster than the bird dog. You can hear AIs launching on unicom, it's just a question of changing airports and chasing them down!

Thanks for the site Tailhook. Only problem is I'm more confused than ever about AI. So many files, so many folders - what are they and where do they all go, are they fsx compatable? I took a quick look at UltimateGA and got even more confused. Is "AFCAD" an acronym? If so, what do the letters stand for? As you can tell, I'm really paranoid about installing anything after my experience with GA_Traffic (or whatever it was). Surely there must be a site; "GA For Dummies" or "AFCAD For Dummies". If I could gain some basic knowledge of this stuff, I'd feel alot more comfortable installing it. By the way, did you ever take a look at the billboards pic in the "I screwed up" topic? Beautiful, eh! Meanwhile I'll go back to UltimateGA and see if I can decypher what they are talking about.
Best regards...Art
