Personally I like to listen to rock, house and techno, so I guess not much of a help from me. As far as the bands are concerned AC-DC and such for rock and mostly european DJ's for techno and house. Hope somebody else can give you a fresh name straight from the big ol' US of A!

Every now and again a band comes along that you wish you'd got into before they broke up. Well i saw this band on the Jonathan Ross show this week and they've just reformed and i thought "How the hell did i miss these the first time round", and then found i did'nt as they had quite a few hits but i just was'nt listening!
So this is "James" live in Manchester and they can perform live "this is a while back though". Don't forget if you can't do it live then don't bother

Ps i love the way he dances at the start !

Thouroughly enjoyed Thats the first time I've heard of these songs, and good this band is, found them to be somewhere between 'live' and 'U2', but... being a musician myself, one thing bothered me, they lacked any musical complexity, the lyrics where good, but it did'nt really make me get up and start dancing. No doubt I'll be recommending this band to friends, and thanks again Welsh for yet another great 'pick of the bunch'
Now here is one that'll definetly get your head bopping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abrKM1Z_te8
And if you enjoyed that here's another...

Here's a dude I greatly admire ever since I first heard this tune... which to my great shame was only recently
Artist: Charlie Parr
Song: 1922

This is proof that there are still living, working musicians out there who have talent and feeling. |

Surfin Bird
The Trashmen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThquH5t0ow
The Trashmen's major notable hit was 1963's "Surfin' Bird", which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the later part of that year. The song was a combination of two R&B hits by The Rivingtons, "The Bird's the Word" and "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow". The earliest pressings of the single credit the Trashmen as composers, but following a threat from their legal counsel The Rivingtons were subsequently credited as composers. It was later recorded by many artists, including The Ramones, The Cramps, , Pee-Wee Herman, Equipe 84, and even the thrash metal band Sodom. It has been used in several movies and television shows (such as well-known scenes in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and John Waters' Pink Flamingos). It is featured in the soundtrack in the video game Battlefield Vietnam. More recently it has been the subject of a 2008 episode of the animated series Family Guy, launching the song to #8 on the iTunes Top 10 Rock songs chart and #50 on the UK Singles Chart in 2009.

This is the Full Metal Jacket clip where we can also see a Marines Choctaw - a rare treat:
This one's for Westernstyle in particular, seeing that he's been grounded and all - Family Guy going nuts

You may have understood just a little bit TH , when i said she's been telling me i don't know everything, that was a generalisation(is that a real word?), she knows absolutely all about aviation, in fact i said i was going on the plane next week and she said how much are you going to take off the toilet door with it ! |

Oh I understood you all right Welshflyer, I figured that with a bit of artistic license (editing your post in my quote) I could trick you, grab your attention and ultimately obtain a new wife with a healthy dowry... obviously, the latter has yet to be negotiated

Here is some useless info for you that will not affect your life.
I know their bassist. Jeordie White... He came from Ft Lauderdale, and around the time I was first a metal fan and then Drewcifer, a death metal vocalist with the band Malicious damage, he was playing with a band by name of Amboog-A-Lard. I used to hang out with their band a lot and we even played a few gigs with them. Someone accused him of stealing guitar gear from another band, and he eventually left Amboog. Truth be told he ended up joining another Ft Lauderdale band that actually made it big.... Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids... soon to be shortened to just Marilyn Manson. Jeordie took the name of Twiggy Ramirez. He played with them for several years before Trent contacted him to ask if he would play in NIN. During the time between MM and NIN Jeordie was also one of the few people privileged enough to try out for the job as bassist for none other than Metallica. He is also seen on their Dvd, Some Kind Of Monster.
Jeordie and I have not talked for many years, but I wish him well, and I am glad to see some of us from the old Ft Likkerdale metal scene actually went on to make it big.... When I knew him he was a rhythm guitarist... he only ever played bass in his spare time or if the gig required it (when he signed on with MM) His favorite thing to do on stage was wear a stormtrooper helmet... yeah they were all star wars fans too haha.
Glad he made it big... Just wish I had.
BTW for the record... I hate Brian Warner (Marilyn Manson)... but that is another story. US AIR TALES- Stories of one man's virtual life as a pilot |

Hey, that "Plan B" clip is cool
I've played it several times now and still don't know what the ugly dude is singing about - no wonder that hot brunette dumped him
I'm thoroughly enjoying the clip though - sexy and funny...
...now why can't Hollywood make movies like that |
