need voice capa. for multiplayer?

Do you need voice capabilities for flying multiplayer?

For instance, if you wanted to communicate to another pilot, how would you do it?

If you must have voice capabilities, what do you need hardware/software?

Each site would use something different, check with the one that you intend to fly on.
Most use Team-Speak.

Yes you would need either one. A mike is very cheap, I'm surprised you didn't get one with your computer.
Headsets aren't that expensive either but you would only use that if you didn't want to bother anyone else in the room.
Get a PC lapel mike.

I had my pc custom built by a local shop here in town and I told him I didn't need a mic.
