Well, when i finish school (when i'm 17) Im gonna go see if i can Join the RAAF. One problem. I am slightly colourblind. I have done 2 tests: Farnsworth D15 which i passed with flying colours, and Medmont C100 which i was only borderline and was just within normal limits. I am also going to have a farnsworth lantern test next month and i just wanted to see if anyone who had done the Medmont C100 (A tes where you have to move a dial to a point where a certain colour which is shown to you stop flashing) has had a problem with the Farnsworth lantern. I am desperate to join the Air force. I don't know where i'd go in life if i don't get in... Crying or Very sad

If i do get in. I'll stay for 12 in the RAAF and then become a commercial airline pilot. Or try to. Aww, i hope i get in Crying or Very sad

heres what you could do, now im only 2 years younger than you but this is what I'd do. first im going to finish my junior year( which should be about 5 years from now) im going to get my PPL and if i pass that im going to finish highschool and go to dubuque Iowa college(if i make it) and get 3x more experience and then go join the airforce.

so my biggest goal is getting my PPL because if i dont get my PPL i know im not going to get into the USAF

so i think before you get any doubts first get your PPL or if you cant wait get your Gliders license. and do some research on that one because the age limit where you live might be different because you only have to 14 to get a GLiders license and i think 16 for PPL.

Yeah, but you'd be away from home for a long time. Also, that PPL licence thingy is not cheap. Its rather expensive from what i've seen.
An example lesson:

- 30 minute theory session
- 10 minute pre-flight inspection
- 60 minute flight time
- 15 minute de-briefing

Charge is 60 minutes @ dual flying rate.
Cost: $200.00 AUD

Also, over here in Adelaide, Australia, We have to be 16 years old to get a SPL and 17 to get a PPL...

Somewhat. But still, flight school. Can I get lessons even though I'm still 14?

Why do you think more people arn't pilots?
However saying that, Joining the defence force will pay you way, or like my dad when he was younger(and so were the prices) he joined a band and saved saved saved, until he had enough for his CPL. Also my figures are old so you might have to check that out. But in all honesty the RAAF is probably the way to go.
