I just upgraded my computer. I changed my video card and I now have a 256 DDR 9550 RADEON card. I have 768mb of ram.
I have a problem.
My flight started hanging as if I don’t have enough memory.
My old card was ATI also, but I don’t' know what happened with the new one. Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you. |

Is your new video card plugged directly into your power supply? I's possible it's drawing too much juice, and making everything else run slower. I doubt that though. The next thing you can do is make sure the drivers for your new card are updated. I've never heard of the 9550 before, it would seem like it's got enough power to run flightsim...But, by hanging, do you mean like slow frame rates, or crashing type of thing? |

Also.
Did you delete your old drivers before you loaded the new drivers.
Do you have the latest DirectX 9.0c.

This card may be just came out (??) since you have not heard of it. Here is the description on the box.
ATI Radeon 9550 256 MBDDR AGP 8X/4X.
Hanging: FS poses for a fraction of a second, slow frames rate?)...
Yes I do have DirectX 9
Do you think I should return the card if un-install and re-install is not helping?

Hey, I did some reasearch on that card of yours, and I came to the conclusion that it is not new. ATI released it's newest creation a while ago, and the one you are describing seems to be one lower than the 9800Pro, only with more RAM. It's got a fill rate of 1.0 Gigapixels, while their newest one has 8.0.
Hope it helps
Oh, what settigns are flightsim on as far as resolution and detail. Aftger you find that out, start a flight, and hit SHIFT+Z twice. You;lll see a thing for frames per second. Tell me what that number is, and i'll try and work more of this out! |

Ok, there's your problem.
Go into the "SETTINGS" tab once you launch FS04. Then go to the HARDWARE tab, then drag the Framerate slider up to around 30. That should help! |
