"Washington - Two US F-15s crashed over the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, but both pilots were rescued and on their way to a base for medical attention, an Air Force spokesman said.

The US military and Coast Guard launched a search for the pilots after their F-15C Eagles went missing at about 3 pm (1900 GMT) during a training sortie, Sergeant LuCelia Ball, a spokeswoman for the base, said.

The aircraft were part of the 33rd Fighter Wing out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, she said.

Ball could not confirm a CNN report that the two planes had collided but said the cause of the accident was under investigation. "

Very sad. Thank god the other pilot is OK though Sad
