I can't remember how many VA's have come and gone over the years, and that's just here! Now in my own opinion here's where many go wrong, VATSIM and all that other live traffic stuff Shocked . Now don't go getting all upset here gents, i know we all strive for realism etc, but i have been put off from joining many VA's because they only offer Vatsim flying. And i believe many have disappeared because of this, why? Well it's this simple, how many people have their PC in their living room/lounge whatever you want to call it? How many then have their TV in the same room? How many of them are married? How many of those who are married do their wives watch soaps (whatever country you live in) on a regular basis?
Now to the big question....HOW MANY OF THOSE MARRIED MEN WOULD FEEL LIKE A TOTAL TALKING Censored TO HIS PC WHILE HIS WIFE WAS WATCHING HER SOAPS?
So here's the thing Gentlemen, if you're thinking of starting a VA make sure you have the option of manual PIREPS!
You might think i'm joking, but i can assure you i'm not, so when you wonder when your beautiful liveried VATSIM ONLY VA failed, have another think, and you may find that MOST people that want to try a VA will not apply because it's VATSIM only! I know because i'm one of them and most of you here know me!
bel that applies to FS Passengers too, i was thinking of joining you Razz !

So far as I know Welsh, we have no plans of going VATSIM only. I use my FSPax religiously, with no plans of using any ACARS systems. I don't file manually unless something went completely wrong and FSPax did not record the flight for whatever reason.

But that's just me...

Nice post.

I would agree 100%. I'm not married yet or anything, but I work in Management which requires me to work 45+ Hours per week plus be on call 24/7 and if i'm in the middle of a flight thats on VATSIM or any other Flight Network like VATSIM and I get called into work, I cannot just disappear. VATSIM or any Flight Network like them would get upset, send member services after me or possibly suspend my account for not being realistic.

Since 2004, I have refused to join any VA that is affiliated with VATSIM or any network that requires you to fly online with or without a controller. So far I have left 4 VAs because of this reason. They started out as a VA that had there own Pirep System then they started to require VATSIM or anything other Flight Network to be flown on in order for your Hours to be counted.

I think its BS that a VA would require a Pilot to fly on a Flight Network in order record Hours.

If a VA cant trust there pilots with Information by filling out a form and sending it to that VAs Database or how ever that VA would do it. Then why have the pilots.

Keep your options and dont rely on Flight Networks for your VA.

visit simfly.eu for relaxed flying whether it be on-line via fshost or not.Afts will track your flight and log your hours, whether they are for a VA or pure pleasure.

Simfly do have a serious flight night once a week and loads of fun events. The Wednesday night round the world group fly is really fun and loads of help is offered and received.

Join a VA or don't its up to the pilot.

ATCs are warmly welcomed as well.

I am a simfly member by choice and for me i was a natural progression from game-spy as I didn't was the seriousness of vatsim.

Rob.
