I use Paint Shop Pro, and DXTbmp to paint.
I have a more detailed description of how I paint in my Pakak Painters forum here...

Cool, I have PSP 7. and I've heard and read about DXTEMP, but not sure if I have it. I've been trying to find a place or a good tutorial on painting aircraft.
