While I was flipping through some YouTube videos, I get a phone call from the wing commander; I am to do an air interdiction for the DEA..... AWACS is tracking a Beechcraft carrying a large quantity of cocaine that has taken off from the Mississippi Delta headed westward. An hour later, I was wheels up; snaking my way eastward when the Beechcraft suddenly pulled from the clouds.
As I approached the Beechcraft slowly on its 7 'o clock to confirm the tail of the aircraft, one of the passengers spots me, and notice I am loaded for bear..... the aircraft suddenly pulls left.
Knowing that I was spotted, I radio the aircraft to divert to the nearest airfield or risk being fired upon. The pilot takes to the storm clouds to elude me. He succeeded....
I make a mental note to flatten the AWACS tires when it arrives and have the mechanics try to upgrade my radar; since it has none. But there is a bigger problem ahead....the storm has intensified and the turbulence is increasing. I am now 5 nautical miles from base and I have to line up for a reduced visibility landing. I decide to skim the cloud ceiling and line up for the approach.
I finally get the runway in sight....
But as soon as I cut the throttle, a massive side wind yaws my aircraft severely!! A small micro-burst!!! I immediately increased power, threw the rudder to the left and yanked on the stick....
Now the aircraft began to lift rapidly and I didn't want to go around to try it again; the weather is getting worse and lightning was all around me.... guess I'll perform a "little" flare....
I pushed the nose down, cut the power, and aimed for the edge of the runway, taking into consideration that I didn't want to clip the trees ahead of it. As I was nearing 220 knots and nearly 300 ft. from both the runway and ground, I yanked up on the stick.........touchdown. I hit full flaps, engaged both the speed brakes and parking brakes as I slid to the end of the runway.
A little shaken and agitated., I climbed off my aircraft and headed for the locker room; I knew I had my Tylenol in my locker. Better take them now, because I have a lot of explaining to do during debriefing.
i know....story was ghey.....but I was bored and hand nothing better to do... Rodney J.
