I maxed out all the graphics and scenery settings I could find.

My setup is: HP pavilion dv7t Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz), 4 gig ddr2 ram, 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card, win vista.

Max settings? where's the autogen? Did you do anything with the advanced graphics settings?

What kind of framerates were you getting? My system is pretty similar to yours, but possibly a little more powerful and full settings makes mine unplayable...

Oh autogen. No I didn't use that and no I didn't mess with advanced graphics. I not real familiar with FSX yet. What can you do with AG?

You can crank it up pretty high under the advanced graphics settings... The basic slider on the highest level only sets it at 10% or something like that.

Play around with the advanced settings a bit, fsx will bring your compy to its knees Very Happy

Welcome to the game though, it's pretty addicting if you're the kind of person that enjoys it.

OMG! are you kidding me? If I'm only playing with 10% then do they even make a computer that can handle everything FSX has?

Traches to be clear about this, you are talking about the slider under the 'Scenery tab' under 'Scenery objects' ?

Are you referring to the 'Autogen density' slider ?

I've got mine on 'Extremely dense' and I'm pushing boulders up a hill Confused

More the autogen density, I wasn't being specific. (Been a little while since i've fiddled with settings.) Though flying into most int'l airports with scenery cranked will tank your framerate pretty quickly too... Autogen is more of an all around drain. Another thing that I've found will really hurt my performance is AI traffic.

You're not playing with 10% graphics, just 10% of the trees and houses and stuff. And 10% was a number i pulled out of my head, just to be clear.

And I'm sure there's a computer somewhere that can run fsx with all settings maxed out, but it probably costs about as much as an actual airplane Very Happy

The rest of us have to optimize...

I couldn't find an advanced graphics option but my autogen slider is all the way up. BTW I found the the direct x10 box and checked it. That made a lot of difference.

Hence my confusion. Maybe you and I have an add-on that pushed that slider all the way up during installation.

Traches, don't I know it about airport scenery and AI traffic. You're damned if you do - you're damned if you don't Twisted Evil

On the settings page there's a customize button, that's where all the settings I'm talking about are.

And I was mistaken, the autogen slider on max does set it pretty high; it's the ai slider that will only crank them up to 20% or so.

Oh the customize button. Yeah I got all those sliders maxed but I'm only getting about 12-15 FPS. Not bad though. I only take short hops so it really doesn't bother me much.
