Tonight 31 March 2009 hackers all across the world will be releasing new viruses into the world wide web database. This will affect all users accessing the internet. By now its a little late. But what you can do to decrease the amount of harm is done to your computer is to update your Virus Databases NOW!!!! This virus affects websites. Seeing thats how the virus is spread. Instead of most viruses you have to download something this one hacks popular websites (Youtube, Myspace, MSN, ETC). If you don't have protection from an anti-virus program my advice warns you to get it now! The best software available that you do not need to pay for is Avast.
www.avast.com
It will automatically update your virus database unlike some software you must pay for. Another good tip given from a Microsoft Technical Support agent is during the night disconnect your computer from the internet and run a full boot scan! A boot scan scans your entire computer for viruses, and other bad things before your computer boots itself up and wreak Havoc on every file on your system.
All of these facts/statements were given to me from a networking teacher at my school and also ex-Microsoft Technical Support Agents. Please make sure your doing everything you can to make sure nothing of this magnitude happens to your computer so you can continue to enjoy the wonderful advantages of Fly Away Simulation.

Where's the guarantee that submitting my vote in your poll won't open the door to one of those nasty attacks?
You really got me paranoid now Shocked

BTW, I use avast! simply because it's not a trial and as you mentioned is one of the better freebies out there. For a more thorough and faster solution I would suggest the ESET NOD32 though. The free version has a 30 day time limit but by then the internet has either completely collapsed or we have indeed survived Armageddon.

When the trial period of NOD 32 expires, it can easily be uninstalled without leaving any traces.

Addendum: I just found a bit of additional info for those who are worried:

The ship has sailed Cocorde, take a deep breath and relax. But since you mention it, it just so happens that recently I did quite a bit of research re security for Macs.
Obviously the spiel of the friendly sales personnel is "...oh no, not with a Mac -- Macs are save..." etc. etc.. But as with everything else in life it's good to listen to at least a second opinion. We know that Macs can get infected...

So I went on my quest for anti virus and anti malware programs for Macs. The only app occasionally mentioned was iAntiVirus.

Many Mac forumites claim that they only use this app to scan documents or files they import from a Windows computer.
All in all it appears that Macs ARE safer considering the plethora of apps and programs available for Win computers compared to the almost non-existent tools for Macs.

Are you running MSFS via Bootcamp? What do you have, MacBook, iMac or one of the big bazookas?
