A few shots gents of hide and seek with a Harrier (thanks for this idea Tailhook and the scenery recommendation ). A little background info for anybody that did'nt know, in Germany the RAF would hide it's Harriers away from the then, Soviet threat, rather than keep them on airbases where they could be readily knocked out it hid them in "hides" around the country that had their own very short runways or indeed used roads as runways. So here's a few shots of a Harrier hide after flying from the MAIW French Airbase scenery somewhere in France .
On the flightline next to all them Frenchy things
Taxi out
Turn onto the Runway...
...last checks...
..advance the throttles and into the sky
Turning to course for Germany
Descending into Germany
Low level approach to our destination
Lower gear and start vectoring the thrust....
..and come in nice and low and slow over the trees
Easssyyy does it
Safely down now taxi to the hide
I see i'm not the only one here
Shut her down and let the ground crew do their business
Thanks for looking and thanks for the idea Tailhook |

No problem , here's a little film of the real thing, the engineers don't seem too professional though |

Welshflyer your piloting skills are commendable - I can't even land a helicopter on that strip without doing a bit of pruning on those trees
honuala in case you don't have the mcdmil.zip yet, you can get it at flightsim. |

Thanks Tailhook, i must admit it took a few tries to get it right! At first i was trying to land it like a normal aircraft by lowering the thrust as i vectored it, but in fact you must do the opposite,as you lower flaps/vector the nozzles you must increase thrust, you do go up at first but then you start to slow down and descend slowly, once you find the correct angle for the nozzles you're golden ! |

What - a ménage à trois? Do you really think she looks like she's up to it? Better let her sleep off her hangover first |
