Welcome back to the 'House of the Dying' (FSX) Welshflyer Group Wave

These are mighty good screenies - we need more of these!!

I must say, I'm not surprised that you went straight for the jugular, the best carrier for FSX, nor am I surprised that you planted it near TNCM Very Happy
The default FSX ground textures and scenery just won't cut it, especially when taking pics.

Now don't you go M.I.A. again, perhaps with you around the 'House of the Dying' can come back to life again.

Great pics Cheers!

OMG Welsh I gotta tell you. I have that Osprey, it is my favorite thing to fly. I have become a real master at it haha. Also made a few repaints for it... Once I get some place to host pix again I will put some up for you.

To date I have landed it on Mt Everest, Mt Hood, Alcatraz (kinda... it was not solid), the Sphinx, downtown Pittsburgh buildings, and up by the statue of Jesus in Rio hahahaha.

Hey bel be a sport and let WF know that your 'Osprey-landing-expertise' (a new term I just coined) is courtesy of THAT gauge by, you know WHOM... Razz

Great screenies (as usual) WF. I 'll bet that within a few days, you will have mastered the Osprey, and be able to set 'er down on a pin head like mine.
Rolling Eyes

Terrific to see you back Bel, lookin' forward to some of your wonderful stories. Very Happy

THAT gauge by, you know WHOM

Hahahahah thanks all. Good to be back!

What gauge TH... So far as I know all I got is standard equipment in there hahahah.

Besides it is the same gauge in the sigma harrier, and the JSF...

Key is not to come in too hot.... or when you tilt the rotors vertical you are gonna start pulling an immense amount of Gs...

In hover keep power about 85% throttle and SLOWLY lower the setting as you descend.

Oh and Welsh I am sure you figured out by now that when on the carrier you will roll off the back if you do not put your rotors to the 44 degree setting hahaha. I am still trying to find a workaround for that. I usually aim for dead center behind cat 2, then quickly tilt rotors and put on parking brakes.

Oh ye gods and little fishes... bel, you're freaking me out. I appreciate you know how to use the 'numbers game' inside the cockpit but flying the Osprey without Secret 'the gauge' is akin to self-flagellation - you never cease to surprise Very Happy
Now I'm not worried about Welshflyer, he'll land that thing on a carrier with or without rotors OR wings before you know it... I've long suspected him of using magic when he's doing his COPs

It's a deal Art, no secrets. I've got a creeping suspicion though that you have developed a VTOL gauge of your own in some covert operation and are simply doing what Soviet and Western spies used to do during the cold war... we'll see Razz

The 'WHOM' is no other than the god of gauges Rob Barendregt. The gauge in question is rcbvca11.zip - what, pray tell would we have done all these years without RB's gauges? Very Happy

Well, for anyone else interested, go to flightsim, search for text: Rob Barendregt and Search file section: FSX-All Files. Go to the second page and check out the four gauges at the top of the page. So we have the:

Osprey VTOL for FS9
Osprey VTOL for FSX
Iris F35B-JSF VTOL for FSX
Sigma/Iris Harrier VTOL for FSX

...dammit, I feel like trading on the black market right under the cops' noses with this ban on links Evil or Very Mad

I've used three of those gauges successfully in the past though haven't bothered comparing them... so maybe you're right bel, maybe they're all the same. Mind you, I have yet another RB VTOL gauge for the FS9 Adam Preece GR.7 Harrier which I think is no longer available.

TFN let's rock 'n' roll
