is there a concensus of opinion re the best freeware or payware A380 for FSX. I get the feeling that the Overland SMS verion is the best.

This one from Robert Versluys is a great freeware edition (not a demo like some of the others):

While if it's payware you're after, then the Wilco version is definitely the best:

thanks. The freeware appears to be only for
fs9? Perhaps I will try the Wilco version.

This Versluys model was made for fs9 but works so so in FSX. The Project Airbus A380 though freeware is better than any currently available payware model.

Agree with your assessment of the Project Airbus 380, but why of why must all really good downloads in all other respects have a bloody 747 panel? Its a personal thing with me. I just think it is such a dull panel and, in my case. too big for the screen. I must admit though, Ifly 747 panel is much better than the norm. It puzzles me why an authentic A380 panel as well as other popular aicraft downloads dont have an authentic panel and rely on the 747.
I'll stop rambling now.

There are a few FSX A-380 panels in various libraries. Depending on where you downloaded your A-380 from, you'll probably find that it doesn't actually include the 747 panel itself, but is aliased to the one already present in your sim. The same applies to the soundset. Go and have a look... you'll find the sounds are aliased to your default 737.

To alias panel and sounds to ones already existing in the Sim has been practiced for many years. It drastically reduces the total file-size of the download.
If you compare the file-sizes of a soundset, a panel and the aircraft itself, you'll see that in most cases the aircraft is much smaller than the panel or the soundset.

Didn't PA release the VC for the A380?
Please direct your complaints to the moon, they might care there.

For FS9, yes.
