No aircraft showing

Hi there recently bought a new computer HP Pavilion desktop. Loaded FSx and FS 2004 on FSX I get a short run of the simulator then it crashes on FS 2004 this runs perfect but when you want to change the aircraft in the aircraft box, its a total blank. So you have to work off memory for your planes. Any one got any idea's? javascript:emoticon('')Pete
