Hi all,

Wondering if any of you have had the problem I'm experiencing now...All my wav files in the default 737-400 aircraft/sounds directory are either corrupt or are not playable. When double clicking any of them, I get an error message by my real one player saying I don't have the proper codec for them or they are unreadable. I've tried uninstalling MS2k2, making sure the aircraft directory was deleted, then reinstalling MS2k2 completely, with the windows media player that comes with it. Still, the files are not playable, do not function in FS, and ATC sound files are not heard when the FS is run. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Well, I found an answer for my problem!

What I did was check these (corrupt) files on another computer (they ran fine), and then checked in device manager what sound codecs I had running. On the good machine, I had about 13 different codecs. On my bad machine, I had only 7. I then checked to see I actually had the codecs on my bad machine (I did), and then I checked my registry file to see where the codecs were being loaded. I checked the good machine, exported the section containing the part where the codecs were loaded, then imported those sections into the registry of my bad machine.

Problem fixed!

Just be sure to save/backup your registry before doing any tweaks!

Jingra, I have exactly the same problem but I can't get it to work.
The sounds work on my fathers computer but he has Win 98 and I'm running Win XP.

I have the codec installed.
Where in the registry file are the codecs loaded and exactly where can I find the registry file?
Or do you mean regedit?

If you mean regedit I have searched for the codecs name there and the only place where I found something with a value on it the value was 1, just as the other codecs that was there.

I'm the same guest as the post above. Smile

I've read your post again Jingra and of course you mean the regedit registry.
So now I'm simply wondering how you found where the codecs are loaded.
