With any other game this card delivers great power but for some reason on flight simulator 2004 I get an average of 15fps. I have latest standard nvidia drivers. With a 2500+ Athlon XP and 512MB pc2700 ram. Thanks for the help! |

I have been reading recently that new generation video cards (such as the FX5900 and ATI's Radeon 9800 Pro) have quite low performance in Direct X 9.0 programs. I do believe that FS2004 is DX9 (correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not too sure...) and as such, may give low performance on these cards. As always, make sure you have the latest Detonator Drivers (http://www.nvidia.com) and hopefully this problem can be resolved. (My comp is a 1.4ghz Athlon, Geforce 3, 256MB DDR ram) and i'm getting about 12 fps with absoloutly everything maxed except weather. With weather it is about 1 or 2 ...time for an update I think...) |

Well that's strange, i have an AMD AthlonXP 2800, 512DDR RAM, 120GB Maxtor HDD, with a Geforce FX5200 128MB and get about 30FPS with nearly all sliders maxed out - why?
Because i am controlling anti-aliasing from the video card settings and not FS9. At the moment your card is probably set to application in the AA menu, click on 2x AA and deselect AA from FS, by rights your FPS should increase. After a bit of research i've found that there's a known issue with NIVIDA's cards at the moment.
When i have FS control AA my frames drop to about 10 but not anymore.
PS - only minor changes to quality but big increase in performance!
Hope this helps and good luck!! |

I am running Directx 9.0a, why?
I thought you have to have 9.0 to run FS9. |

Just trying to see if the problem could be with DX. But, clearly its not - your graphics are running fine under DX9. |

Forgetting graphics for a second - we have changed the Avatar system. Please change your graphic at some point to avoid the broken image. |

That shouldn't be happening, have you tried the anti-aliasing method a few posts up? |

yes, I tried that out, it seems that the fps increased a little, but its still not doing anything like I think it should... Im running 1024 x 768 now... Maybe it has something to do with the refresh rate of the monitor? Im not sure, Ill have to keep looking... |
