My friend and I have played a few multiplayer games in the past. It has been about 3 months since we last have. The other night we tried to play, I always host, but this time fs would not let me. I went through the first screen where I put in my ip address and name. But when I came to the next screen where you name the flight and click ok, it just stays there. It does not go to the next screen. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

Did you apply the new 9.1 patch or update to SP2.

It could be this or the 9.1 update.
If you have added a router or a new firewall that can cause it also.

I have tried the stuff from microsoft and it has not worked. I do have a router but it was inplace when we used to multiplay. nothing has changed in the routers settings since that time.

The only thing that has changed is that you added the patch.
Try disconnecting the computer from the router and run it direct.
There may have to be a new port setting because of the patch.

I've had this EXACT same problem, however i have no resolution for you either. The multiplayer seemed to work for a while with the router in place, but then stopped after a few days. This was well before the update. I am totaly puzzled. I'll pass the word along if i resolve the problem.
