I have a sony laptop computer. The specifics are intel penium III processor, 745 MHZ, 384 MB of Ram, intel 82815 graphis controller. I have windows xp home edition. I have fs 2002 and it works fine. I loaded fs 2004 on the computer and it freezes up at the intro screen and says it's not responding. Can anyone help me? I really want to play this.

Thanks a lot!

I'm guessing but I would say the it could be your video card. They aren't too good on laptops.

Have you tried new video drivers.

What kind of video driver would I need and where would I get one from?

Wait, wait!!!!!!

I had a similar problem, i have an SiS 630/730 onboard graphics.
First off find out exactly what the name of the graphics system is, then go into the display.cfg in the main FS9 folder. Look for the name of your video card - when you find it, it will probably say the name of your video card and beneath it:

Disabled=1

Change the number 1 to 0 and it should now work. But bare in mind FS9 has denied your video card for a reason and the graphics quality and performance may not very good.
You will need to upgrade ASAP!!!!
But it will work fine as long as you don't go to Heathrow!!

Hope this works, good luck!! Very Happy

Or if this doesn't work, backup the display.cfg file from your main FS9 folder and copy the display.cfg from your main FS2002 folder and paste into the main FS9 folder.

I see display.cfg but it won't let me open it. how do I backup the file and copy the one from fs 2002?

How much does a good video card run for?

Sorry about the delayed reply. Anyway cut the display.cfg from the main FS9 file folder and paste into My Documents, then copy the display.cfg from your main FS2002 file folder and paste into your main FS9 file folder.

It should now work.

Regarding your query about graphics cards, you can usually pick up a decent NIVIDA GeForce graphics card for less than £90, if you live in Britain - if you don't my advice to you is shop around on the internet. You can always find the best deals on the web.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!!!!

Andrea, I tried that, but it still doesn't work. Should I just get a new graphics card? Is that my problem?

Maybe you should - yes. Here i'll give a link which should be useful when deciding on new graphics cards. It also advises you on other hardware.
