This is pretty scary - gives me the chills. I'm glad the pilot saw them before he landed! If he did land, I'm sure the wake turbulence would flip the helicopters over.
This happened in mid August, but I just found out about it.
BTW - A friend from HMX recently told me that back in 1990, 2 VH-3D's were taking off from Chicago, and one of those orange plastic fences, which was being used for crowd control, broke away from it's restraints and wrapped around the rotor of the VH-3D (not the one carrying Mr. Bush Sr.), flipping the helicopter over. Would anyone have any more info about this? She said this helicopter had been refurbished and is in use today.

It must be really scary to see military helicopters approaching directly to you. Luckly there was no incident and everyone's fine.
