Exporting an a/c into GMax/3dsMax

Not sure where this post should go so I'm trying here.

What I'm wanting to do is pull one of the planes that came with FS2004 into GMax/3dsMax and do some renderings with it. I've looked around and haven't found anything that tells me how to go about this. I have found how to import something into FS2004, but not export.

Anyone got this info or am I asking for something that isn't a good idea to do?

I have a feeling that (if I understand what you're trying to do) might be illegal. Intellectual property etc. - and keep in mind you're trying to tweak Microsoft property. With 3rd party add-ons you might be within the legal limits, but try and contact the author first and ask for permission.
