I recently deleted a few programs from my computer via the Control panel in Windows. I think I accidentally deleted something that I wasn't supposed to, but not sure. The reason I think that , is because right after deleting the programs, my mp3's suddenly didn't play anymore in Winamp (it just stays stuck when I press the play button) and in FS2004 I suddenly don't hear the pilot's or controllers' voices during ATC transmissions anymore either! I checked the sound and ATC settings and they are correct (I didn't change them from earlier, when I COULD hear the voices). How is this possible????? Does anyone have a clue??
I would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance,
Manuel
...but you do still hear other sounds, in FS2004 as well as in other programs?
If you have an separate sound card (no on-board card I mean), perhaps simply try to reinstall the CD that comes with it. If you do have an on-board soundcard, find the CD that came with your computer containing the motherboard drivers, run the setup program that's on it and reinstall the sound drivers. Usually the setup program should let you do this.
hi there! thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I do hear all the other sounds in FS, engine sounds for example etc. and other programs also. I downloaded a new version of Winamp and now winamp works again but not FS.
I don't have the cd's for the soundcards, because my brother built my computer for me and he installed everything for me (he installed a separate soundcard).
I just remembered that the thing I accidentally deleted via Control panel was some kind of (video?) codec or something, can that have an effect on the sound in FS?? I also reinstalled FS but that didn't have any effect either.

Yes, deleting a codec could cause sound problems. There are several types of sounds used on a computer and the ATC may be using a different sound than the other sounds in the sim. If that is your problem you will have to reinstall the codec from whatever program installed it. It could be your sound card or it could have been installed by windows. I think your best bet is to reinstall your sound drivers.
This may help with the problem.
