Have you ever heard of KISS the rock band?
Yes, what about them. They've been around a long time.
Nothing about them. Just wanted to see how many of you have heard of them. I'm pretty sure they retired in 1999 or 2000.
Heck yes! I wanna Rock n' Roll all night and party every day!

Who?
What I figured... 😂
They're kinda new from Finland, check www.69eyes.com for a cool video "LOST BOYS"
I remember KISS from back in the day. Hard rocking music, costumes and spectacular pyrotechnics. I was more into Queen "We are the Champions", "Another one bites the Dust", "Bohemian Rhapsody".... Great music that I still love today. 🙂
Of course...a hard Rock band with the famous V scheme bass 😉
I cant say that i die for them,i would give them the characterization New Wave Rock for their music, but this personal opinion of course.I prefer more pure and harder(and older) Rock Bands like Deep Purple : for example(and many more)
Yes. Hell, I've even heard of Jethro Tull. Not many can say that. 😂

The lead singer of Jethro Tull lived in the village I grew up in, Ian Anderson I think his name is.
The official site of J.T. ➡
I'm glad to see there are so many folks are into Jethro Tull. Now I'll mention a group, less folks remember. The Strawbs.

Great group. ❗
Im sure that there must be some people here which have head some of their hits and they dont know that they belong to Strawberies.
I have a greatest hits CD of them.Anyone who wants something he can ask for... 😂
Actually, they started out doing "Bluegrass" and were known as The Strawberry Hill Boys. And yes, they are a great group.
It goes back to an era when musicians actually used melody and harmony in addition to rhythm.
I wasn't saying I am into Jethro Tull 🙂
Just that the guy lived where I grew up lol
Strawberry Alarm Clock ... anyone?
Electric Prunes?
Spooky Tooth?
Vanilla Fudge? The original 'The Beat Goes On' later adapted by Sonny & Cher
BTW, the name Jethro Tull was chosen in rememberance of the supposedly inventor of the plough in Britain.

I remember Vanilla Fudge
Jethro Tull
(1674-1741)
Born: 1674 at Basilson, Berkshire
Agriculturalist
Died: 1741 at Hungerford, BerkshireJethro Tull (1674-1741), born in Basildon in 1674, was a major pioneer in the modernisation of agriculture. The son of a Berkshire farmer, he trained for a legal career, but financial problems compelled him to opt instead for farming. Determined to improve agricultural methods and increase yields, Tull experimented at Howberry farm, Crowmarsh, near Wallingford with a seed-drill which could sew three rows of seeds simultaneously. Later, he devised a horse-drawn hoe to clear away weeds. In 1731, Tull published his ideas about farming and plant nutrition in The New Horse Houghing Husbandry: or, an Essay on the Principles of Tillage and Vegetation'. Despite initial resistance to Tull's revolutionary ideas, they were eventually adopted by large landowners, and in time formed the basis of modern agriculture. Tull died at Prosperous Farm, near Hungerford on 21 February 1741.

I've seen Tull in concert five times. Not many can say THAT. 😂
Ed
And I've been listening to rock'n'roll since the 1950's. Probably not too many here can say that! 😂

I can play Witch's Promise and Living in the Past on bass. Not many can say that.
And I can sing Heavy Horses, though you probably wouldn't want to hear it. 😂

I'm a bass player, too, but none of the bands I've been in ever got around to playing any Tull.
I think I need to correct that situation!

Forgive me for correcting your statement. I don't think it's a matter of the bands you're in never getting around to playing any Tull, but rather not to be bothered investing in the effort required to play any Tull number in public without messing it up completely. With one exception perhaps: Locomotive Breath - but that was just a sad excuse for a "Showpiece" .
Have you ever seen any fairly good rock outfit covering Tull numbers?
Of course not. Those cats were musicians with extensive musical knowledge due to their backgrounds. They were not just simply Rockers, they were fullblooded Musicians.
In my case, I only ever found one cat who was prepared to go through the rigours of exploring a few Tull numbers with me. Nick was a drummer, a good one at that, spezialising in Ginger Baker and John Bonham styles.
Here was the trade of: Nick was prepared to study my Tull numbers if I was prepared to do the Led Zeppelin repartoire.
Nick was a hell of a good drummer and a hell of a nice guy. He let me choose which Zeppelin number I wanted to tackle first and needless to say "Whole lotta love" was not the first on my agenda... a bit like 'Smoke on the Water'. I suggested "Ramble on" and "What is and what should never be" and Nick said sure. He knew every single track ever released by Zeppelin by heart - the same couldn't be said of yours truly.
So we were playing Tull and Zeppelin with a set of drums and a bass guitar - the rest of the band was a CD-player... but it worked and we both learned a hell of a lot.
I still think that Tull is one of the best bands from a musical point of view of the era and John Paul Jones the most talented and innovative bass-player of the time.
Try and play along with their tracks and you'll soon get my drift.
