Best flyingstick, problem with Logtech..

vodkavera Guest

Hello pilots.

I guess this question has been asked before, but I need an answer.

I see my self as a good pilot 😀 but my flying has been less good
dew to my bad joystick.
I use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro and it´s gone bad.
It´s almost impossible to callibrate it. It always draws to the left on the rudder.
I´ve heard that others had the same problem with this stick.
What is your opinion?

Now i´m after a better stick in the same area of price that is..... 😕
What do you suggest?

Over & out from Sweden. (5 golds in the Olympics, so far 😀 )

MS sidewinder precision pro II is an excellent stick. I use it and find that it does all i need and the twist feature works well with fs if you don't have rudder pedals (like me).

I have seen posts that recommend you stay away from the force feedback sticks, why that is i'm not sure.

Hope that's of some help.

I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I've never had a problem. It's possible that yours is worn out and needs repair or replacement. I don't use mine as much since I purchased the CH Flight Yoke. The Logitech is a good controller for the price. I've heard pilots rave about the Saitech X52 and I am thinking of getting it. It's not in the same price range as the Extreme 3D. The Saitek Cyborg Evo PC Flight Stick seems close to the price range of the Extreme 3D. 🙂

Not to steal the tread but whats the deal with not going with the force feedback? I have MS Sidewinder Forcefeedback 2 and love it. I also like the forcefeedback feature as it give it more realism. Am I missing something? Thanks

In the end it's a matter of preferences, I guess. Depending on what kind of flying you're doing, what kind of aircraft you fly predominantly and how your set-up is, force feedback might even be impractical.

Just picked up my Saitek X52 flight system, so far I freaking love it, kinda miss the force feedback of my logitech but if you can swing the dough the X52 is one heck of a complete package.

I currently use the CH-yoke and rudder setup, but before this I was using the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 (and have been for years now), and love it! I definitly reccomend it, and havn't had any problems with any of its parts after such heavy use. The force feedback is still as good as it was when I first bought it.

I use the MS Sidewinder Precision2 Pro USB but unfortunately they stopped making it.
If MS doesn't have a stick now that you can get I would recommend one of the better Saitek sticks, the 45X or 52X. They are costly but excellent.
If you can go to a store near you, try out a few stick, see which you like and buy it over the net for less.
Don't forget to get one with a twist handle for the rudder.

Got some more time with the X52, its a lot better then I ever thought it would be, so glad not to deal with force feedback anymore, always loved it when I would disengage AP and the FF would throw the stick around wildly which would create great g-forces pissing off my passengers.

I HIGHLY suggest the X52, it also has a stop watch feature, and 3 different clocks, one set for zulu time and two you can set to what ever time you want, plus you can download the FS2004 profile from Saitek's website, button for everything. 🙂

I´ve got my eyes on Saitek X45....
How about that one?
Does it work good with FS 2004?

Any other ideas?

You'd probably be smart to go with the Saitek, I've never heard a bad review about them. RadarMan is right, a lot of the MS. joysticks are out of production, so get something with the most cutting edge technology 😉 .

Is there twisthandle for the rudder on the Saitek X42/52?
Saitek´s website doesn´t have that info!

http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x52.htm

In the 'Joystick' section look for this:
# 2 X 8-way Hat Switches
# 3D rudder twist
# 3-position rotary mode selector switch with LED indicators

http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x45.htm

Here the info is in the 'Throttle' section:
# Throttle Control with Detents
# Rudder Control
# 2 Rotary Analog Controls

OK.

To bad, I like to have the rudderctrl. on the joystick.
How does it work when it´s on the throttlecontrol ❓
Seems strange to control the rudder with throttlectrl!

Anyone with experience of this?

I am almost certain that they've put the # Rudder Control in the wrong section and that it is controlled via the twist-handle instead.

Let's wait and see if someone else knows for sure.

OK.
So I´ve read alot in different forums about the x45 & x52 and
most flyers seems to prefere the x52.
It´s a bit more expensive for sure.
I´m thinking, is it worth it?

In Sweden (where I live) the X45 costs about 800SEK (100US$)
the x52 costs about 1200 SEK (150 US$)

It´s a lot of money....

If you want to make sure that the x45 has the rudder in the twist-handle, send them an e-mail. Have a look at this page ➡ http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/info/contact.htm

Just tell them that the description on the 'x45 page' is confusing - include the link to the page in your e-mail.

Good luck!

The answer to this is that the information on Saiteks website is correct.
The X45 does not have a "Twisthandle".
I´ve just reseaved an email from them.....

So now we know ❗

p.s. by the way....it´s my post above.

Very interesting - that means that the rudder function was part of the throttle lever and Saitek have moved it to the stick on the x52. Wise move.
Thanks for informing us vodkavera 👍

Enjoy your new controls!

i use a jostick with the rudder in the throttlecontrol
i personally say it is much easier to rudder like that especcially when taxing
i personnaly find the rudder in the stick annoying

I have one sat collecting dust on my shelf... its in good condition..

Its a very very ncie stick and throttle indeed, i especially like the fact the rudder control on it isn't on the twist stick as the twist stick tends to cause control issues IMO

the only reason i don't use it is cos I got a Saitek x52 and CH rudder pedals (as I couldn't bare to use the twist stick 🙂 )

where abouts in the world are you from?
