Hello all,
I understand most of you are not medics, however I'm suffering from a very sharp, severe pain in the right side of my chest. I can't seem to make it go away, and its absolutely killing me. My parents aren't home, so I'm trying to figure out a way out of this alone. I can't study 'cause its so distracting, and seriously, it hurts.
"KME219 is declaring an emergency -- Requesting immediate assitance, folks"
If i was you i will take some deep breaths, try to relax, drink something hot and call your parents without panic them. Its nothing that you have to worry about.Stress makes pain bigger.
If you have other symptoms I would go to and ER or call your equivalent of 911, emergency help.
If that all it is you may just have gas pains or a pulled muscle.
No, no, I've had gas pains before, and they are nothing near as painful as this. I can't call my parents, because my father is about to catch a flight to Lebanon, and mom went to drop him off at the airport. She's over 2 hours away, but I guess I'll just ride it out till she comes. The pain comes and goes in little bursts, but they honestly kill. I may try and walk over to a guy I know, who's dad is a doctor, but thats a mile and half away, and in this dark night, I'd rather not take the risk. Its always an option if this gets any worse though. Thanks for your help guys
Is the pain when you breath in and out or when you move suddenly? If it is, it could be an intercostal muscle spasm which subsides after a few minutes. If it is a sharp constant pain and it doesn't let up or gets worse then go to the hospital and get it checked out 😉
how long is it since the pain started?
the spasm that jolegg is talking about i can vouch for.. it's happened to me plenty of times... but it does subside rather quickly
if it's a constant chest pain.. i'd seek immediate medical attention 😕
..relax in the meantime, whatever it is, stress wont help.
i hope things turn out okay, feel better.. 😞
1) Contact a doctor or emergency medical service.
2) Contact a doctor or emergency medical service.
3) Contact a doctor or emergency medical service.
4) "Chest" is a little vague, but here goes:
- (Constant) pain for over 15 minutes - see 1, 2 and 3.
- Pain that changes character with movement (i.e. gets better or worse if you sit, stand up, double up, breathe whatever) - probably a muscle spasm.
- Pain that starts deep in the chest, constricts breathing, radiates anywhere up, towards arms or neck - see 1, 2 and 3.
- Pain that starts deep in the chest, gets worse with deep breathing, constricts breathing - see 1, 2 and 3.
- Any kind of excretion, bloody or not, cough, difficulty breathing, even mild - see 1, 2 and 3.
If you are a young, otherwise healthy adult, chances are it is muscular. If heat makes it better, chances are it's muscular. If rubbing it hurts a little, but makes it better, chances are it's muscular. That doesn't mean it's 100% though and if in any doubt, you should seek medical attention.
Feel better.
if it hurts alot, get medical help. better than being dead.
Well, its been quite a while, and the pain refused to subside, so I called the Dr. He's on his way now, 'cause I can't get anywhere -- It hurts, but he shouldn't be long, and hopefully, I'll be fine soon. THanks for your kind words of advice everybody. Very much appreciated 😉

good thinking, but appendicitus isn't in the chest! 😂
Actually chest pain does not entirely rule out appendicitis, but I won't bore you with details 😛 Let us know how it went crosscheck.

Laconic, contemporary and true 😉
Well, the doctor came in, and pressed around a few times, and asked me what I had eaten, etc. Then he checked my BP, and it turns out its a little high. He gave me a few pills and told me to take them for the next three days, and he'd like to schedule an appoint with me at the hospital, but he thinks I should be fine. I'll probably go next week because I'm going to be very busy preparing for a relief trip to Thailand, but thanks for all of your help guys 😉

Good to hear that the Dr. checked you out. High BP at your age is some not to be ignored.
Im happy that it wasnt something serious Crosscheck.High BP sometimes comes by stress and fear but anyway dont let it unchecked.
