hey everyone, what is your least favorite aircraft?
judging on any criteria.. from appearances to specs, etc..
this is NOT a "Boeing vs. Airbus" thread or any sort of thread to express your opinions on manufacturers or their origin countries... it's purely just your opinionated least favorite aircraft
and at that.. i have to say mine is the BAE-146. ...there is something about that aircraft i do not like at all... aside from it's ugly exterior, I have found myself disliking the dynamics of it in FS9 as well.
the concorde was a close second.. i never got into the whole "concorde craze"
mines the 747 🙄
In general, I dislike anything built before 1940. Specifically, I really dislike the Spirit of St. Louis.
I don't really like military aircraft of old vintage aircraft - they don't interest me at all.
Out of the jets, I don't really like the A340 😉
I dislike more than anathing F-4 Phantom II, it was good, but is awful
Skyhawk and Skylane.
My least favorite would be the Airbus A380. I don't know why everyone on this site likes it, because it just looks ugly.

Well it might be, because it is big, but it looks good to me, personally i don´t like the craft. 🙄

couldn't agree more.. those aircraft give me this "lonely" feeling. it's hard to discribe..
out of todays modern passenger jets it has to be the russian ones.. the ilyushin or how it's spelled. Not because it's russian but I just don't like the style of it

In order to understand why 20th century Russian planes looked the way they did, you have to understand the history and culture of the country. Their artwork, statues, buildings and aircraft almost always had a "massive" look. Streamlining for the sake of appearance wasn't done. The Antonovs really show this characteristic, especially, their cargo planes.
The first commercial airliner that looked more streamlined, was, if I recall correctly, the Ilyushin IL-72. It was a wide bodied 4 engine jetliner that copied the look of US commercial aircraft except for the T-tail. Its interior was spacious and comfortable and its flight was very smooth. Its soundproofing was excellent. That couldn't be said for the Tupolevs of the era, which looked like converted medium bombers (many were actually that). I flew on a Tu-104. It had to be the noisiest plane I was ever on.
By the way, I also flew on the IL-72, so the description is based on my own experience.
Don't know if this was interesting for anyone, but it was free of charge. 😂

Tailhook, just out of curiosity why do you not like these two Cessna's?

I never fly them, I find them boring. If I want to fly slow, there are slower aircraft available but with more 'character'.
I don't take flying in the sim too seriously, I like to have fun. One little illustration: I can fly in and out of any airfield in Northern Nepal in almost any WWII fighter and dive into the valleys or river gorges at any time for sightseeing. My favorite one for this purpose is still the 'ZERO' - very low stalling speed, you can almost land on a heli-pad, at the same time you can do incredible aerobatics.
We all have our preferences. Some enthusiasts won't touch an aircraft that doesn't have a good looking, clickable VC. To me and the kind of flying I enjoy a VC is not important.
What is important to me is the soundset -- I just love good soundsets and I don't hesitate to take a bad one out of a payware model and exchange it with a superior sounding freeware one.
Trust me, I've even experimented with different soundsets in the Cessnas out of sheer stupidity I admit because in this sense I am somewhat of a purist and if I can, I will find the set that's appropriate for the aircraft.
The C's have soundsets that just want to put me to sleep.
If I ever learn how to fly choppers properly, I'll probably be spending most of my time in a Huey because of the unique sound -- and there are some very good sets available. Different strokes for different folks 😀

It's cute! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
really?
Airbus A380 & Airbus Supper Guppy
Those are the two ugliest planes that I have ever seen. I do like Airbus though; they have some good a/c.
EDIT: Forgot to add the Boeing 317.
Any commerical passenger aircraft..
flying tubes of burning death and so very dull
no character whatsoever :/

Someone doesn't like flying in the real world
😉
I dont really like military planes. Seeing an A320 come into Bristol does so much more for me than seeing a Harrier display at Fairford.
😉
Aerospatiale (Air-to-Spatula) AS350B A-Star (aka Deathstar, aka Squirrel)
A terribly unsafe helicopter, designed by the French, which kills lots of people each year.
Ugly as anything, and is hard to control in ground-effect.
designed by the French
Hey! Whats wrong with the Short Skyvan? That little gem will get you in to, and out of, any desert strip. It had one of the most advanced wing designs of its day and spawned the 360 and later variants.
I think a lot of people like or dislike a plane based on appearance alone, rather than does it do what it is designed to do.
👍
the airbus beluga and any thing that is old!!!!!

Well said 😉
I once DESPISED the beluga.. but hey, it's nickname is cool (blue baluba baby), and it's wings don't look that bad...
after all, it's a cute little plane 🙂

I am happy to fly in light aircraft, i just can't stand commerical aircraft or flying in them
anything that was french manufactered is terribly unsafe and ugly.
no offense to any french people.
that is a massive generalisation..
could you add some examples of French aircraft you feel are unsafe and ugly?
amermel wrote:

I'm not french, and I'm not offended, but Judging that I live here,I think that is scary news.what about french style?
Ok,now, guys,I want to give you all a treat,I know this deserves to be in the aircraft forum, but It has something to do with this.If you want to fly slow, but with some character, use this:
THE CESSNA 210 TURBO WITH LUXURY WOOD CABIN!
Freeware model with retractable landing gear and extremely realistic handling. The wood photorealistic panel is a must!Thecockpit probably has the most "character" of all slow planes!
plane:http://www.fsimcafe.com/Downloads/ShowDownload.aspx?ProductID=1626

Enjoy!
amermel, did you not read what i said about this thread?
go back to the original post and read what i did NOT want....
sorry about that....
And i take back what I said about French manufactered aircraft.
Some French aircraft are very beautiful and graceful.

Yes, i know what you mean by that, there is no words for such THING. 😎
I'll admit the Shorts Skyvan is ugly but I have an affinity for it having made many skydives out of one. It has a tailgate exit which is perfect for dragging a large formation out of it with all grips taken. Perfect for multiple plane large skydive formations.

Is it a converted helicopter?

Actually the Spirit of St. Louis is not that bad after about an hour of practice. For me I hate the default plane in FS. Been taking the lessons and I'm getting annoyed with it. Tempted to change the sound of it to a 747.
