I recently operated flight 291 for my virtual airline. From Los Angeles to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. Equipment was a 767-400 sporting our brand new colors.
.) Shortly after departure from LAX.
.) Bye Bye California!
.) Climbing, very clear weather in the LA area today.
.) Still climbing, anybody know what island this is off California?
.) Passing FL320, traffic off to our 8 o'clock traveling in the same direction. Perhaps they're headed to Hawaii also?
.) Close-up on that traffic.
.) Finally cruising at FL380. This is the view for our passengers for the next 5 hours. 😉
.) Having been here severeal times in real life, I know about Maui's odd approach. Airliners fly the downwind to runway 2 and make a rather sharp "U-turn" over the valley of sugarcane fields and come in for landing. The runway is only 7000 feet long!
.) There's Kahului Airport below, we'll be turning around and landing on 2.
.) Skipped the base leg and final, this is after touching down, spoilers and reverse. Encoutered some light rain showers upon arrival.
.) "Ladies and Gentlemen, Aloha! And welcome to the beautiful island of Maui!"
I hope you guys enjoyed these, I had a lot of fun doing this flight. 😎
