Cockpit Music

Jamie4590 Guest

I don't play music during flight as I like to listen to the engines because they can often signal an early-stage problem but what are the rules for real flight?

Are there any stages of flight that the captain can whack on a bit of
Debussey in the cockpit similar to an operating theatre or would this be considered gross misconduct and incredibly thoughtless?

You can sometime tune in AM band music on the ADF but most airline pilots don't. During flight you continuously get frequency changes so you really have to closely monitor ATC. Many airline company procedures forbid it. 🙂

PS If you're flying on your own, VFR, you can jam to your Top Gun CD. Punk
