In all jobs its important for people to take a breather and forget about their job for a while. Is this true for pilots though? During the cruise is it normal for a pilot to perhaps leave the cockpit for a smoke or stay in their seat and read a chapter of a book while the other pilot monitors everything? Or perhaps check the daily racing forecast so they have their bets planned out for when they land??
Didn't think smoking was allowed on any flights now?
Which leads me to ask are there not many pilot smokers?
During normal domestic flights, pilots are only allowed to leave the cockpit to use the lav. On International flights, there is a releif crew so that the regular crew can take a break.

Yes, pilots are free to move around the cabin to stretch their legs. On my way over here, we saw the Captain pacing up and down a few times, and then the FO a few minutes later.
😉
Obviously you dont had any problems with the cockpit door Jon... 😂

Hopefully not.
I seen the pilot walking round during a flight to Mauritius. Had a nice chat to him, and he allowed me in the cockpit once we landed! Woo!! 😀
