Cold feet on the A380?

With the further 12-18 months delay on delivery of the A380, Emirates Airline are reported to be "reconsidering their position". Having signed for 23 aircraft and 101 P & W engines (!) (with a total of 42 aircraft muted) you wonder how they can "reconsider". BAE selling its stake in Airbus may be a smart move. Emirates have also put the order for a further 18 A340-600's on hold. Have Airbus fallen over? Will the A380, although technically brilliant(supposedly), become another great European financial loser like Concorde? Emirates were supposed to take to the sky with the A380 in Febuary 2006.

Its interesting. Personally, I think the A380 will end up being a disaster, and the past question of who was right (Boeing or Airbus) over which direction to be taken (long haul / high capacity or medium haul / medium capacity) shall be answered. And no that wasn't a 'Boeing Vs Airbus' discussion provocation.

Hell quite a few companys are relying on it, I doubt it. For cargo alone, Fed Ex has ordered 10 A380's, and UPS had also ordered 10 of them.

IMO, the delay will heavily impact the A380's reputation. You don't just stall an aircrafts release and expect things to remain the same. Also, I'm not sold on this evacuation system they have implemented, but thats for another thread. If I was Emirates, and Airbus told me they were delaying the release, you better be sure I'd start reconsidering. You need a company thats reliable, and the delay may cause discomfort among companies.

I've got the A380 from Abacus. It's real sweet, and flys like the caddy of aircraft. So it's here enough for me. 😂

It seems like the A380 will have quite a tough start, but I think it will work out fine if the companies just give it some time. It really seems as the big companies like emirates and singapore airlines really are in the need of a big aircraft like the A380

Why? It is a great aircraft. Flys super.
It has tiny people on their little machines at the gate to gas, resupply the food, drive up with the passenger stairs, check out the bus, etc. Push back.

Sorry, but I have to ask this question. Do you fly it, or just sit at the airport, looking out the indshield? 😂

Well I taxied to the gate after a flight, looked at the A380 from the outside and saw all these cute vehicals restocking me. I did not know that was part of the program, but like that it is.
