Mine is take-off from Runway 26 at KONT and then KLAX is about 40NM straight ahead with a choice of runways. Only a slight left bank is needed to get the ILS localiser lined up. When I've reached 4'000ft I level off and dump fuel for landing. About 27NM away the ILS localiser comes to life and I'm usually right on it or just a slight adjustment is needed. Then I follow the ILS for a landing.
I find myselft doing this all the time as it tests take-off and landing and the whole process lasts about 10 minutes. Try it.
