brand new system with 2 yrs warranty.
specs:
AMD athlon 64bit AM2 3500+
Asrock AM2NF6G-VSTA nForce6100 AM2 mATX Dual Channel DDR2-800 PCI-E 16X SATA 2 & RAID
Geforce 6100 graphics card 128MB
512MB DDR2-667 RAM
80GB 7200rpm HDD
16xDual layer DVD Writer
400W ATX case with 2xfront usb ports
This is on the internet for $650 NZD (Something like $350 US)
Seems to be a nice solid computer with a price tag to suite.
I was thinking a ATI X1600 Pro 256MB would go nicely with this, and another GB of RAM
What do you all think?
maybe a 512mb ATI Radeon x1600
I won't try and influence you in your choice of GFX card.
If you ever intend to run FSX on that machine, go for 2 Gigs of Ram, a minimum of 200GB HDD and the 400W PSU is really the minimum you need these days. This of course will push up the price of the PC a bit, but all in all it doesn't sound too bad.

I just installed the x1600 512 MB yesterday, AGP-card as I currently am not in the financial position to buy a new mobo and everything to upgrade to PCIE but I must say I am struggeling to get the FPS up over 25
Strangely, running FS9 on absolute minimum or absolute maximum settings only makes a difference of +/- 10 FPS.
Still trying to find solutions as the card should be capable of a lot more, combined with P4 3.06 and 1GB DDR400 RAM.
that's a good price indeed, but check out a computer shop on ebay. 6.4gig dual core with dual nvidia 256 cards go for about £450 - just a benchmark for you

Looking on this site, there is quite a difference between the AGP and PCI-e model, but 25fps is pretty bad. I think maybe you got a bad card?
Hell, I dunno.

All these things will come in the future. At the moment, I'm poor, and I dont think a 200GB HDD is really necesary. Maybe, in a few months, when I upgrade to vista, Ill add on. But for the price I'm paying, does it sound like a good system?
It would do quite well for the price is my (unasked;) ) opinion.
And hey - you can't have everything in life, you can only spend every penny once. There's more in life then 100fps in FSX
Thanks for the link btw...useful graphs there.
Alrightt guys, the time has come. I have raised enough money, heres the final system specs.
