So ive been flying quite a bit on here as of lately. Preparing for my FAA IFR exam for school... 😞
anyway, I'm dissapointed in the advancements they made to the ATC in FSX. By advancements I mean none.
Okay I tried a mission in the 747. She says, "Before taxi checklist...Taxi lights on, flaps up, before taxi cheklist complete." "Before takeoff checklist... Landing lights on, Full power. Before takeoff checklist complete." Okay so she didnt say full power, but why must you advertise the game as being as real as it gets, then dumb it down so a 5 yr old can fly the planes and go weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 😀 😀 😀 ( forgot that posters name)
It's like they totaly sold out and instead of truly making the game as real as it gets, they made "fun" missions that are less realistic than sierra pro pilot 98. (Great game! 😀 )
One thing certainly stands out: If they bother to make some lessons in FS about holds, then why not make them part of the game? I cant imagine it being that hard? Also missed approaches, Stars, DP's, Pop up IFR clearances, anything more enroute besides randomly having you turn 10 degrees off course then a minute later telling you to resume nav?
How about your route isnt always cleared as filed? I barely have to listen to them read me my clearance because other than altitude and trans, I know what they are going to tell me. Cleared as filed. Sure, small airport destinations will most likely be cleared a filed, But hmmm cleared to KORD a filed? In a 172? Not gonna happen.
I know you cant expect it to be real life, but I was dissapointed to learn no new ATC features on a product touted as the best flight simulator ever, costing 70 hard earned bucks.
I dont regret buying it. In fact I really enjoy it. And it will serve me well for years to come, I'm just a little dissapointed is all.
If you really want to see what direction they took this sim, fly the midwest fly-in mission. And listen to the old man as you fly over the lake...
"Hey, youve got some flour bombs. If you can drop one on that target, Ill give you a prize"
other than that FSX is badass

It is so MS can sell more copies of FSX.
