It's not too easily read but you can get the idea of what is going to be fixed.
Lets hope that some of the excellent suggestions made in our 2006 thread have helped in convincing MS to put out a patch for the first time in many years.
Sweet news. That will definately be a big help for the frame rates for a lot of people.
thanks for posting that Radarman...
Fixing the autogen for better frame rates is good news to us all
Bridges (its a bummer if you d/loaded all those early missing bridge files)
Better terrain Up from76 to 19 WOW That a big improvement
Config file updates This is the one that scares the hell out of me What exactly? Will it cause conflicts with any add ons?
With that terrain fix I think this is going to be a BIG d/load
Now here's the question,Are they (MS)at long last listening to us?
Lets hope so,and maybe, just maybe some of the good ideas in our 2006 thread will see the light of day
The patch is a good thing. I hope it is not a first anointment for delaying the relies of fs2006
More patch news:

Mircosoft FS2004 (FS9) Will Get A Patch!!!
Sunday, September 19 @ 09:10:31 GMT francois
Microsoft let the cat out of the bag, which means our Beta Limitations are gone. SimFlight is happy to announce that the MSFS development team (and the entire Beta team) has been working hard for many months now on a major upgrade of FS2004. Something that has not been done with many FS titles before. From our own testing exprience we can tell you that some significant changes have been made and problems been patched. Click on Read more... below to read the details !!
The most important changes (we feel) are:
- Terrain resolution is 'restored' to the FS2002 level and 19 m mesh will be possible again !!
- There are 160 new bridges included (the real models) to correct for the missing ones
- Improved memory allocation and autogen scenery behaviour will reduce frame rate problems
- More stability in general, so less chance of losing the sim in mid-flight !
- The problem with the Solo Certificate is solved.
- John F Kennedy airport has new and additional objects and autogen scenery
....and a few more things.....
When will it be available??
MS thinks end of this month or the beginning of October.
Of course you can find an article closer to home. With screenshots:
Radarman, I also think that the 76-19 is the new "supported" level of terrain, Microsoft are not releasing 19's for the whole world, just changing it so that developers can add this.
I think you are right about the mesh size,as details were a bit sketchy to start with
Old MS caught nearly all the major fs site out with this anouncement
I know it reads like they are changing the entire sim but I see posts such as your on different sites. We can dream that they'll go back to it so the FPS will be better.
Maybe in 2006 (FSX?).
I am just wondering how all the adds on will fit the new patch? If MS
have any commitment to third parties. I donít think that they are developing something like a new terrain display system and doing something else in fs2006
