The World is a Quilt?

I just installed FS Global 2008. Before I contact them, I wanted to ask all the experienced simmers here if my experience is common for add-on scenery enhancements:

Close to the ground (say, 1000-5000 feet), I get some nice looking textures and fairly realistic...well...scenery. HOWEVER, comma, at cruising altitude (20k-36k) the world looks like my grandmother's quilts-- little lines crisscrossing the planet in even squares like a giant piece of patchwork quiliting.

I have tried various settings to see what shakes loose, but no luck. Just thought someone might have a simple clue to this.

Slight mod to my previous post: This quilting effect only appears on the vast flat portions of mid-America. In the mountains or seaside, I get some nice scenes. I was thinking it might all be related to the way FS textures are written for flat spaces?
