I learnd that windows xp had its own winzip utility built in how do I accsess this i can't seem to find it?
In response to this and your other post about WinZip, try WinRAR. It is shareware but after the trial period is over, its just a nag screen that appears. http://www.rarlabs.com
About the Windows Extract Utility, I *think* that it only appears when you don't have WinZip.
Right click on the file to open it.
I still use winzip.

The nag screens in both WinZip and WinRar only appear if during installation of either app you allow file formats to be associated during install.
The idea is to NOT associate ANY file types during the installation process. This gives you the advantage to choose which app you want to use when you unzip a .zip folder. Instead of double-clicking on the .zip folder and let it take over and control your actions, right-click instead and select from the drop down menu which app you want to use. An additional bonus is that you can choose between at least three different options as to how or where you want your files to be extracted.

That's because when you install WinZip and let it (by default) associate itself with all compressed folders it takes over and plays Boss.
The moral of the story, whether you install an Extraction utility or a Picture viewer or Editor of any kind, do NOT let the program associate itself with any file formats. This will in no way restrict the functionality of the program you've just installed.

Just righ-click on the .zip file and select 'Extract all..' and follow the prompts.
