In search of a good large passenger prop.

NSX Guest

Hi everybody,

I currently fly the Level-D 767, which ofcourse is a great payware jet. Now I'm looking for something new. A prop aircraft. Is there any nice large passenger prop out there? Maybe some sites with paywaye aircraft that I can check out?

If your a prop fan, please advice where I should start looking.
Cheers, NSX

You will love this one. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=atr1
I flew it before I transitioned into the LDS 767.

Hi Kurt,

Just how, in your opinion, does it handle, and how realistic is it?

I too was looking for a realistic turboprop at one point, for the short hops, and ended up trying Majestic's DeHaviland Dash8.

It was an enormous waste of money. Poor panel, poor graphics, not enough documentation to come to understand the workings of the aircrafts systems...I hated the handling both on the ground and in the air...

Anyway - I really felt cheated out of my money with that product.

And some of the reviews I read rated this plane quite good...which made me wonder if perhaps turboprops are just not my thing...

Flight 1 also publishes the Level-D, I know it's inrelevant to think that will make all Flight 1 products good, but then again..
Would be better if some sort of demo was there to check it out before you buy.

Thanks for the replies and please keep them comming, cheers, NSX

I bought the PMDG 1900C. The outside work and inside cabin work is excellent, the panel is decent enoguh, although it is a shame that some of the deafult king air gauges are in there. The handling is smooth and the plane is overall stable but not too stable to be unreal. It is not the most realistic plane out there but it suits my level of experience down to the ground (please excuse the pun) and for £7 I think it is a bargain. Unless you want something very realistic I'd go for it

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the Dash8. I can tell you that the Flight1 ATR 72-500 will not disappoint.

It was one of the first payware aircraft I purchased from Flight1, if it had sucked Iíd not have returned to buy the Cessna 441 Conquest II, Cessna 310 or the LDS 767.

I have obviously never had the opportunity to pilot the ATR 72-500 in the real world, so I canít give you an assessment of its performance as compared to the real thing, but I gotta believe that it is quite close to the real thing. I logged over 160 hours in it and I gotta say, if the LDS 767 didnít come out Iíd still be using it as my primary aircraft.

Hope this helps.

Another good turbo prop is the Phoenix simulations Dash-8 It has an awsome panel, fully functional FMS, and good documentation. It is also a bit of a challenge to fly which makes it that much more fun to fly.

Thanks for the feedback all, I'll keep your tips in mind.

Must say that because of the current weather here I'm not spending a lot of time flying, but some more here.

Gotta take advantage of the sunshine as much as we can right.. Smile
