Upgrading computer

I have a New lenovo computer that I bought about 5 months ago. Here are the Specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Athalon 64X2 3800+ 2.0ghz
1gb memory
Integrated 6100 graphics
250gb hard drive
19inch wide screen monitor

Certainly not the best specs but for $549 that is a good deal for that class of computer. I can add a gig of ram or upgrade the vidio card. I have about 200 dollars to work with. Which should I do.

Get the card first. You will free up about 256mb of Ram by turning off the onboard 6100. Add a PCI-EX16 video card and turn off the onboard 6100 graphics in your BIOS.

Here is one of the new DX10 cards Vista supports. This will be a huge fps and graphics improvement for your system with FSX.

Add another 1GB memory if you can later too.

Will this work for thje vidio card.

The problem with upgrading to 2gb of memory is the way they made my computer. IOt is teh only computer I have heard of with only 2 memory slots. Instead of puting in another gig of memory I would have to buy 2 ! gig sticks because there are 2 512's in there! Then I would Have 2 512's with nothing to do with them.

The 8800GT is not bad. Lower GPU/Memory bandwidth and less pipelines than the GTS. For $40.00 it's worth going with the GTS. And personally I don't like paying tax w/ Circuit City, that's why I only buy my PC parts at Newegg.com. Great Prices,No Tax,Eggcellent customer service.

They kinda screwed you on the memory thingy. They probably did it that way because your motherboard may support dual memory thus having to have a stick of ram in each memory slot in order for this feature to be enabled. So maybe that's why it's done this way. Wait on the memory I still say get the GTS. Remember the video card is really, really that important here for a sim like FSX.
