FSX SP1 installed/game wont start

ok, i downloaded the Service Pack for FSX from gamershell, and installed it. but when i tried to start the game, it would go to the blue FSX splash screen for about 5 seconds and then it exited. i checked the task manager, and fsx.exe was running when the splash screen was, but then the process quit when the screen disappeared.
so i uninstalled SP1 and it runs fine now. but id still like to use the service pack, any suggestions??
oh, im running FSX standard version, not the deluxe one.
