Accel Pack

Hello everyone

May I ask, does the accel pack really work as it should?

I have looked at a couple of reviews on PlayCom.UK where I was about to buy it, and both admit it does not achieve very much, in fact one reviewer had to lower his specs in order to get the same FPS as he had in SP1. The other reviewer reckons it is the usual MicroSoft Beta Testing programme?

Anyone else any ideas please?

Yes I have it.
I did a clean install of FSX, SP1 then the acceleration pack (defragging before and after each step).
It works fine, if your interested in the missions (I'm not) it's nice to have.
The P-51 is a beauty and you get SP2 which isn't available for download at this time (soon).

I use KEDW quite a bit and the scenery for it is worth the price to me.

I haven't noticed any slowing or decrease in FPS.

Edwards AFB in California.
One of the longest runways in the world.

It's an alternative landing site for the space shuttle...it was used for years as the primary site before Florida.

RadarMan -
ARE you running in DX10 Preview Mode in FSX ???
AND what GPU are you using???

I'm having shimmers real bad on tarmacs / runways / wing edges.....
Progressive Taxi does not function......

ALL worked very well before Acceleration - AND if I do not use "Preview Mode" - ALL is well....

From talking to some very sharp folks, it's a nVidia driver issue...........

cthiggin, no I'm not using the DX 10 preview, it seems to cause texture rendering problems.
Wait for the "official" "final" release of it.

Thanks RadarMan -
That's what I've been told -
I went through all of the "tweaking" - building a hi-end system that was "ready" for DX10 - BUT, from all I have learned, DX10 is still in it's infancy, along with GPU drivers and FSX -
Guess all of us will continue to wait and enjoy our existing "non DX10" experience.

Thanks for your reply

Thank you RadarMan for the info on Edwards AF Base. Maybe I should have used that in my younger days??

The Shuttle still lands at Edwards when it can't in Florida. Those sonic booms are really something else! 😀 They also tested the XB70 and the X15 there, along with many other fine aircrafts.

😀 I used to hear the double boom in the mornings as it turned over the SF Valley to come home.
It was as if they were signaling me to get up and turn on the TV...I did.
